Walking the Ridgeway National Trail long distance path

The Ridgeway XT40 walking mapThe Ridgeway National Trail is 87 miles (139 Km) long and it follows Britain’s oldest road.

The Ridgeway National Trail starts at Avebury in Wiltshire and finishes at Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire, with the trail passing through two distinct landscapes. The first part from Avebury to Goring follows a broad track along the North Wessex Downs in a surprisingly remote environment.

The second part from Goring to Ivinghoe Beacon initial follows the River Thames before heading into the Chilton Hills through several villages and small towns.
