Rock climbers tend to take advantage of the cheap villas and apartments available at places such as Port de Pollenca, Soller, Inca, and around Palma that are available outside the main tourist season. Villas and apartments tend to be ideal for groups of 4 or more, and for smaller groups there are a large number of hotels and Bed & Breakfast (B&B) style accommodation.
Climb Europe has details of the following hotels and apartments/villas that are suitable for rock climbers to rent on a weekly basis in Mallorca
Ca's Xeremier is a reformed Majorcan country house which is located 20 minutes’ drive from the airport and the most famous beaches of the bay of Palma. It offers a garden, terrace and pool and is perfect for 2 couples or a family. The house is located in the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains just on the outskirts of the village of Santa Maria del Camí. It is two minute drive from Santa Maria or 10 minutes by walking.
On the ground floor of the house there is a fully fitted and equipped open kitchen with a cosy living / dining room. On the top floor there are one bathroom and two bedrooms. One of the rooms has a double bed while the other has the possibility of a double or two single beds. Also included is Satellite TV, air conditioning, private parking and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. The house has a shared outdoor pool surrounded by a garden where you can bask in the sun plus there is a terrace.
The house is very central to the island, which means all the climbing areas are easily accessed from it. Also the owner is a local climber, so he can give first-hand information about the best climbing areas, routes, and DWS (Psicobloc). In addition, the surrounding countryside is ideal for outdoor sports such as trail running, hiking, biking, and canyoning.
In Santa Maria you can find a great selection of restaurants traditional tapas bars in addition to all kinds of shops, as well as a local product market held every Sunday morning.
Can Milagro is a holiday home for 2 people located in a beautiful small mountain village named Bunyola, Mallorca. Bunyola sets at the foot of the Sierra de Tramuntana, the biggest mountain range on the island. The house is only 20 minutes’ drive from Palma de Mallorca (the capital) and 30 minutes from the airport. Bunyola is great for hiking and climbing. You can see the famous ‘Sa Gubia’ climbing area (all levels and multi-pitches) form the terrace and also the harder site ‘Fraguel’ is close by. The rest is easily reached if you hire a car. I am a climber myself so I can advise on where to go.
The views from the house are amazing; you can gaze over the valley and get lost in the view of the mountains. Still, if you want to have a coffee at the ‘plaza’ or need to do some shopping, you will reach the centre of Bunyola by foot in 5 to 10 minutes. The supermarket is open all day and at Wednesday and Saturday mornings there is a small market at the village square.
When you enter the house you find yourself in the living room that is connected to the kitchen with a simple bathroom. The door in the kitchen leads to the outside stairs to enter the terrain and rooftop terrace. In the living room you will find the stairs to the first floor where the bedroom is situated.
The facilities are as follows:
