This guidebook describes a circular long distance route, called the Peaks of the Balkans Trail, which runs through Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo. This 192km waymarked trail winds its way through the wild, rugged, and spectacular scenery of the Prokletije Mountains (the southernmost range of the Dinaric Alps). It passes through four beautiful national parks: Prokletije (in Montenegro), Thethi and Valbona Valley (in Albania) and Rugova Valley (in Kosovo).

The guidebook splits the route into 10 daily stages and also includes suggestions for excursions to visit neighbouring peaks and local sites of interest. Each stage has a comprehensive route description and is accompanied by detailed maps and colour photographs. The route itself is not difficult though it passes through some remote areas and demands a moderate level of fitness.

Published in November 2017 by Cicerone this guidebook will provide everything you need to plan a successful trip. This includes information on how to get to the route, advice on when to go, where to start your trek, what to take, and information on cross-border permits. Appendices include accommodation listings, useful contacts and an English-Albanian-Montenegrin glossary.
