Description

This guidebook describes 43 different mountain biking routes in the Soca Valley that is located in Western Slovenia, and includes the towns of Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin and Kanal. The Soca Valley lies between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea in a picturesque and fascinating valley that is great for mountain biking. Relics of the 1st World War have left a vast network of high-altitude supply routes (called mulatieras) that are ideal for reaching and crossing mountains on a bike.

The guidebook describes a range of routes to suit mountain bikers of all levels and abilities. There are routes from 12km long to routes over 48km long that ascend more than 1,100m and taking around 4 hours to complete.

All the 43 routes are described in great detail across at least 4 pages. There is summary describing the aspect and character of the route, a map of the route, and a description of the route including GPS coordinates at the key junctions. Symbols indicate the difficulty of the ascent and descent sections along with total distance travelled and an indication of time taken to complete the route.

Published by Sidarta in 2011 this guidebook is in English text throughout. The author Leon Leban describes the routes as a plentiful selection of varied tours, diverse terrain with favourable weather conditions, and a unique position between the Alps and the sea.

Number of pages is 236.
