There are many different rock climbing regions within Spain, with new and exciting areas opening up on a regular basis. Some of the more popular rock climbing venues for Spain are described briefly below.

Rock Climbing in Costa Blanca. This is a very popular rock climbing area as it offers a vast quantity of routes across the grades on good quality limestone rock. With many cheap flights available to Alicante this a perfect area for a rock climbing holiday.

Rock climbing on Mallorca. A popular holiday island with mainly single pitch bolted routes, with plenty of routes at every grade.

Rock climbing around Madrid. Within the surrounding mountains of Madrid there are several granite crags, such as La Pedriza and La Cabrera that offer long multi-pitch sports routes. Alternatively there is the limestone crags of Patones, which is mainly single pitch sports climbing.

Rock climbing around the Barcelona Area.
There is some fantastic rock climbing around Barcelona and Catalunya, which includes; the Sierra de Prades mountains south of Barcelona near Tarragona, with plenty of single and 2-pitch routes climbing at an altitude of 1000m; Montserrat with its towers of conglomerate mountain rock giving plenty of bolted multi-pitch routes; just south of Barcelona are a series of good quality crags. In the foothills of The Pyrenees there are many limestone sports crags ranging from the steep and overhanging crags of Les Bruixes and Rodellar, to the crags such as Cavallers and Montgrony which offer a good range of grades. Also there are some excellent multi-pitch rock climbing to be found here at crags such as Terradets (up to 500m high) and Riglos (up to 300m high).

Bouldering at Albarracin
Superb bouldering on solid sandstone blocks with an amazing range of slabs, steep walls and huge roofs to play on.

Rock Climbing at El Chorro near Malaga.
Superb gorge rock climbing on good quality limestone rock. Within the gorge there are plenty of fully bolted multi-pitch and single pitch routes. There are also several other excellent outlining crags close to the gorge and close to Malaga and Marbella.

Rock Climbing near Granada and the Andalucia Region
There are over a 15 major crags within the Andalucia region that includes Granada. The major crags are at Loja, Cerro del Hierro, Espiel, San Bartolo, Monachil (Los Cahorros) and Motril.

Rock Climbing on Ibiza
Another popular holiday island, which offers some great rock climbing and sports climbing on limestone rock. Many of the climbing areas are well away from the traditional "tourist" areas and are generally on the sea cliffs or in isolated coves.
