The
area around Costa

limestone rock. There is everything from bolted routes a few
minutes walk from the car, to multi pitch trad & bolted
routes on the coast or in the mountains behind Benidorm.
El Chorro

gorge rock climbing. Also within Andalucia
there are other great rock climbing areas around Malaga
and Granada.
The island of Mallorca
has been a popular rock climbing venue for many years. The
island offers excellent 1 & 2-pitch sports climbing on
limestone rock.
The area around Barcelona
offers many varied rock climbing venues, such as Sierra de
Prades (in Costa Daurada), Les Bruixes & Berga to the
north of the city, and the excellent rock climbing at Montserrat
on the towers of conglomerate mountain rock overlooking the
ancient monastery.
The premier bouldering venue in Spain is Albarracin,
with its huge ancient sandstone blocks situated within the
forest. There are a variety of problems to climb from quality
slabs, amazing arêtes, overhanging walls on crimps and
cracks, to huge roofs.
Not all of the rock climbing in Spain is situated near the
coast, with some excellent multi-pitch rock climbing available
just outside of Madrid.
Here the rock climbing is in the easy to mid grades ( 5 to
6b) on granite rock. |
