Rock Climbing and Sports Climbing around Sassari and Alghero in northern Sardinia

The limestone crags around Sassari and Alghero offer mainly single pitch sports routes across a wide range of grades. There are some multi-pitch sports routes at the Sperone overt and La Cengia crags near Alghero, with routes up to 140m long on excellent sea cliffs of Capo Caccia.

The main rock climbing to be found around Olbia is single pitch sports routes on limestone rock, with the main crag being Siniscola, which has a good range of grades. Further north the rock turns to granite, where there is some bouldering at San Teodoro. At Capo Testa there is a mixture of sports routes and bouldering on beautifully naturally carved white-grey granite rock.

To the east of Olbia, most of the climbing areas are not bolted and therefore have an "alpine" feel to them - according to Sardinian rock climbers!
