| Introduction
to Sardinian Rock Climbing Sardinia has long being
known as a rock climbing destination with its wild and spectacular
rocky interior and coastline. There are now over 50 established
crags across the island and new crags and routes are being
continuously developed, mainly thanks to a local climber called
Maurizio Oviglia. With its abundance of quality routes and
great weather for rock climbing throughout the year, rock
climbing holidays in Sardinia are only going to become more
popular!
The largest climbing area is concentrated around the village
of Cala Gonone
on the east coast of the island near Nuoro, which offers some
great sports climbing. Other popular areas include Domusnovas,
Ogliastra
and Isili,
which are both inland and offer mainly single pitch routes.
The island is very mountainous and offers all types of rock
climbing from traditional, to sports as well as several bouldering
areas. The sports climbing is mainly single pitch, though
at Supramonte,
situated between Dorgali and Oliena, there is a big wall rock
climbing area with many bolted multi-pitch routes up to 400m
long.
This site mainly gives information about the various sports
climbing and bouldering areas, to be found at sardinia. To
