This guidebook details the rock climbing found on the famous mountain of Stetind and around the Narvik region of Norway. Stetind with its beautiful surroundings, spectacular positions and clean-cut rock features leave you with no doubt that Stetind deserves its status as Norway’s national mountain.
The guidebook covers 5 main areas, these being Stetind, the idyllic rural island of Hamaroy, large granite walls near Efjord, the fjord of Skjomen with sport and trad crags as well as 1,000m high walls, and numerous easily accessible crags around the regional centre of Narvik.
The emphasis of the guidebook is on long alpine style, multi-pitch routes in the mountains. In total 100 of these type of routes are covered, with some up to 20-pitch long, with many in the 10 to 15 pitches region. Also included are 228 single pitch sport and trad routes, including the excellent crags of Stiberg (Skjomen), Svartdalen and Haugfjell (both near Narvik).
All the single pitch routes are shown on colour photo topos, with the multi-pitch routes shown on detailed topos and/or colour photo topos. All routes also have a detailed description including descent information. At the start of each area there a location map, detailed access information and a description of the style of climbing to be found.
