This is a selective guidebook describing the best rock and sport climbing to be found in Southern Scotland. Volume 1 (of 2) describes the crags up to the natural demarcation of the Great Glen. It includes routes from the islands of Arran and Mull through the Arrochar Alps, Ardgour, Glen Coe, Ben Nevis, the Cairngorms and Easter Ross, taking in the key crag climbing areas such as Glen Nevis and the Central Highlands. Around 1,600 routes are described, with the majority at VS and above including many high E Grade routes.
The layout is clear with access and logistics for each area described, along with a brief history, and clear maps. There are overview photos of crags that show the approach and descent routes. All the routes are illustrated on colour photo topos along with detailed route descriptions. Published by Pesda Press in July 2008, it is written in English throughout.
