This is the comprehensive rock climbing guidebook for the Mourne Mountains. These granite mountains are located in the southeast corner of Northern Ireland near the town of Newcastle.

There is a great variety to the climbing found in the Mournes that offers a perfect landscape for rock climbing across a number of different granite crags. Some of these have short approaches such as Spellack, Pigeon Rock and Hen Mountain that are justifiably popular. However to experience the Mournes at their best you have to be willing to explore and commit to long approaches. You will be greatly rewarded if you put the effort in with solitude and probably be the only climbers on the crag. However the longest approach is no more than 1.5 hours and the remote exposed summits of Slieve Binnian and Slieve Bearnagh provide stunning scenery from their high tors.

This Mourne Mountains guidebook describes overs 26 different crags, and nearly 1,000 trad routes along with some bouldering. The full grade spectrum is covered from VD and S, through to many mid-grade routes and up to E10. All the routes are shown on colour photo topos along with full descriptions. Each crag has a location map, approach description, walk-in time and a description of type of climbing to be found.
