This guidebook describes over 1,000 of the very best routes found at Montserrat on great conglomerate rock, across a wide range of grades. It covers everything from single pitch sport routes to long full day multi-pitch routes, including many routes that are between 100m and 200m long. The compact nature of the conglomerate rock means most of the routes here are bolted but there are also long trad classic routes that follow crack systems.
The guidebook is split into 3 main sections, which are the Monastery area, the North Walls, and the South Walls.
The Monastery area covers the Gorros and Sant Benet crags.
The North Walls area covers the Santa Cecilia, Frares North, and Agulles (needles) North crags.
The South Walls area covers the Agulles (needles) South, Frares South, West End, Can Jorba – La Vinya Nova, Plecs – Montgros, and Clot de la Monica crags.
All the routes are shown on colour photo topos along with a detailed description. Descent information is given for each route, and where appropriate what trad gear is required. At the start of each crag there is detailed access information, a location map, along with a description of the style of climbing to be found and the best time of the year to climb there.
