This is the comprehensive guidebook describing all types of rock climbing in northern Mexico, including traditional climbing, sport climbing and bouldering. The guidebook includes the best known rock climbing area in Mexico which is El Potrero Chico, near Monterrey. El Potrero Chico offers everything from single pitch sport routes to long big wall bolted routes. Also included are big wall routes at La Huasteca, the giant waterfall wall at Basaseachic, and long multi-pitch routes at Canon Tajo. There are also lots of sport climbing areas such as El Salto and Canon Tajo, plus the best bouldering area in Mexico called Penoles.
There are many excellent climbing areas covered in this guidebook across many different rock types. In total 43 different climbing areas are detailed across 9 different northern states of Mexico. These states are Baja Califonia Norte, Baja Califonia Sud, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi, Sonora, and Zacatecas.
At the start of each crag, there is a location map, and a description of the style of climbing to be found. Symbols indicate the best time of year to climb, type of rock, gear required, plus the number of routes along with the grade spread. All the routes are shown on colour photo-topos with America grades, though there is an excellent grade conversion chart at the start of the book.
