This is the comprehensive guidebook describing all types of rock climbing in central and southern Mexico, including traditional climbing, sport climbing and bouldering. The guidebook includes the sport climbing at Chontacoatlan (with its huge impressive cave), Jilotepec, Los Dimamos and Aculco that are near Mexico City. El Chico National Park and Pena de Bernal have many long multi-pitch sport routes up to 280m long, and the best bouldering closest to Mexico City is also at El Chico National Park. Close to Guadalajara there are several rock climbing areas with the granite blocks of El Diente offering good bouldering and sport climbing, plus the coastal area of Ixcatan has many excellent bolted routes on first class basalt rock.
There are many excellent climbing areas covered in this guidebook across many different rock types. In total 86 different climbing areas are detailed across 16 different southern and central states of Mexico. These states are Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Distrito Federal, Estado De Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacan, Morelos, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, Quintana Roo, & Veracruz.
At the start of each crag, there is a location map, and a description of the style of climbing to be found. Symbols indicate the best time of year to climb, type of rock, gear required, plus the number of routes along with the grade spread. All the routes are shown on colour photo-topos with America grades, though there is an excellent grade conversion chart at the start of the book.
