Rock
Climbing around Trieste in Italy, Osp in Slovenia & northern
Croatia
The rock climbing around Trieste, consists of 4 separate
crags. Val Rosandra is the most extensive and is made up of
a series of many buttresses and it also offers some multi-pitch
routes up to 80m long. At Napoleonica there is single pitch
sports climbing situated above and below the road.
Across the border in Slovenia, the rock climbing at Osp actually
consists of 3 different crags; Osp itself with its razor-sharp
slabs, and technical vertical and slightly overhanging walls
that offers both single and multi-pitch routes; Misja Pec
with its steep powerful single pitch routes mainly in the
higher grades; and Crni Kal offers single pitch routes mainly
in the lower grades.
The climbing in northern Croatia is not as extensive as the
crags around Osp and Trieste, though they do offer the best
potential for developing new routes. Visit our Climb-Croatia
pages for more information
All the routes in this region are on limestone rock that
is generally good quality. |
