This guidebook describes the rock climbing in North Somerset to the west of Bristol. These crags give interesting climbing in a variety of locations ranging from leafy combes and reclaimed quarries to sea cliffs; all being a refreshing and quiet alternative to the hustle and bustle of Avon Gorge.

The guidebook describes 5 crags, which are Blaise Castle Gorge, Portishead Quarry, Goblin Combe, Bourton Combe, and Sand Point. These 5 crags are all easily accessible from Bristol or the M5 motorway, offering both sport and trad routes that are excellent all-year venues.

Blaise Castle Gorge (also known as Trym Valley Gorge) is situated in a public city park with a café. This beautiful wooded limestone gorge offers mostly trad routes, but also has a smattering of hard sport routes and easy bouldering.

Portishead Quarry is now a nature reserve that offers an assortment of lovely slabby trad routes, and some slightly steeper sport routes. They are all very sheltered, sunny and quick drying.

Goblin Combe is located in a small and wonderfully atmospheric wooded valley. It gives a great range of trad routes, and gets all the sun going.

Bourton Combe is a tiny crag in the woods offering sport, trad and bouldering.

Sand Point is sea cliff climbing with a selection of short trad routes in a beautiful and wild setting.

All the routes are shown on colour phot topos along with a short description. All the crags have clear access maps, approach information and a description of the type and style of climbing to be found. Published in February 2019 by Great Western Rock, whose aim is to produce local guidebooks for local climbers.
