This Classic Routes in the Ecrins Mountaineering Guidebook describes 80 routes in the Ecrins, Oisans Valgaudemar and Valjouffrey regions. These mountaineering routes focus on climbs of moderate ability (from F to D), but encompass all styles of routes. These range from classic routes and peaks, to numerous less prestigious but equally beautiful summits and passes. Also included are variants and ideas for traverses and a selection of multi-day alpine circuits.

The guidebook details 80 mountaineering routes. For each route there is detailed information about the approach to the climb, detailed description for the route, and the descent. The up to date route descriptions take in to account recent changes caused by reduced snow cover and glacial retreat, along with advice on the best strategy to adopt for the climb. Each route also has several high quality photographs detailing the route line and strategic or important points on the route. There are also 27 detailed maps that show all the 80 routes and 10 alpine tours.
