Paklenica is the best place to go climbing in Croatia, and is known as a top European climbing area for its multi-pitch routes. Paklenica has everything from single pitch sport routes to multi-pitch routes up to 350m long (sport and trad), on solid limestone rock. There are routes to suit climbers of all abilities and they all have easy access with the walk in from the car varying from 1 to 45 minutes. Anica kuk is home to many classic multi-pitch routes that have been attracting climbers from all over the world. These routes are up to 350m long, across all grades, with a simple walk off from the top back to the car.
The new Paklenica rock climbing guidebook has just been fully revised and re-printed. It now covers 590 routes, an increase of over 200 routes than the previous edition. All the routes are shown on colour photo topos, and most of the multi-pitch routes have an additional topo diagram. Published in February 2017 the text is in Croatian, German, Italian, Slovenian and English throughout.
Paklenica is also a great place to go walking and hiking. The landscape varies from limestone gorges, pine forests and Alpine meadows. The Paklenica walking map details many marked hiking trails. These vary from circular day hikes, or by using the Planinarski Dom mountain hut you can explore more demanding hikes along the Velebit ridge.
