63-August-North-Wales-Bouldering-GuidebookA new North Wales bouldering guidebook has just been published. It has been 13 years since the 1st edition and in that time the number of high quality areas has grown hugely. North Wales offers a greater depth and variety of bouldering that can’t be found anywhere else in the UK. It is also possible to boulder in North Wales all year round, regardless of the season or prevailing weather, simply by choosing either mountain crags or coastal crags to suit the conditions.

The guidebook is split into 7 distinct areas, which are as following:

  • Llanberis Pass. Many classic venues such as the Cromlech Boulders and the Wavelength area
  • Ogwen Valley.       Many more classic venues such as the Bethesda circuit, Sheep Pen, and lots of roadside bouldering near Idwel Cottage.
  • Outlying areas from the RAC boulders near Capel Curig to Tremadog in the south.
  • Rhiw Area on the Lyn Peninsula that includes Porth Ysgo.
  • Anglesey area that is focused on the limestone crags on the northeast coast of the island.
  • Llandudno area that includes the classic Parisella’s Cave plus numerous other high quality crags such as Pill Box Wall, Pigeon Cave, and Angel Bay.
  • North East area that includes The Gop and Ruthin crags.

All the problems are shown on colour photo topos, along with a description, with Font grades are used throughout.
