Finale Ligure Sport Climbing Guidebook

60-June-Finale-Sport-Climbing-GuidebookThe white limestone cliffs of Finale Ligure offer diverse, fantastic sport climbing of great quality and character. The rock climbing is situated in a succession of valleys in the hills behind the town of Finale Ligure with the crags emerging from wild and deep green vegetation.

The main climbing style found at Finale is on vertical fingery routes, characterised by lots of pockets, where the crux move is inevitably at the top. There are also overhangs and roofs to be discovered with other types of holds like tufas, or horizontal edges, along with cracks, aretes and corners that are typically found on the classic multi-pitch routes.

Versante Sud has just published a new Finale sport climbing guidebook. This guidebook covers 192 different sectors and crags, and describes around 3,000 routes.  All the routes are illustrated on clear colour topos along with a short description, with longer and more detailed descriptions given for the multi-pitch routes.  The guidebook provides detailed approach information for each crag along with GPS information for the approach paths and parking areas.

The majority of these routes are single pitch, though there are many bolted routes up to 3 and 4 pitches long. The exception is the big wall of Bric Pianarella crag where routes are up to 250m long. The routes founds at Finale cover a wide grade range, from F3a to F8c+, with most routes in the F6a to F7c range.
