Cala Gonone in Sardinia is a world-famous climbing area that attracts climbers from all over the world. The town of Cala Gonone is surrounded by many good quality crags including sea cliffs and inland gorges.
The majority of the climbing found at Cala Gonone is single pitch sport climbing across a wide range of grades from easy F4’s all the way to elite F8c’s. There are also many different styles of climbing to be found from slabs and steep walls, to fierce overhangs, all on hard limestone rock. However there are also many bolted multi-pitch routes up to 210m long.
The new comprehensive guidebook for Cala Gonone, called Arrampicare a Cala Gonone, has just been re-published. It describes 24 areas and over 1,100 routes that are shown on colour photo topos. The guidebook also includes a selection of the big wall routes at nearby Monte Oddeu in Supramonte.
