Fontainebleau and Central France rock climbing guidebooks. Fontainebleau is situated 90km south of Paris and can be simply described as the best bouldering area in Europe if not the world. The majority of the bouldering is to found in the forests that surround Fontainebleau, which makes for a magical and unique setting. The sandstone rock is of fantastic quality and the landings are generally soft and sandy. The area is huge with many different guidebooks available. In Central France the main rock climbing area is in the Bourgogne region, which stretches from Auxerre in the north through Dijon and Beaune to Macon in the south.
Chamonix rock climbing guidebooks. Chamonix is a world-class area for mountaineering and rock climbing that is famous all over the world and is dominated by Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe at 4,810m. There are many different guidebooks available ranging from long multi-pitch alpine routes to sport climbing and bouldering.
Southeast France rock climbing guidebooks. The southeast of France includes some of the best rock climbing and sport climbing in Europe. From Avignon to Nice the regions of Provence and Cote D'Azur include the sport climbing areas of Verdon, Buoux, Ceuse, and Les Calanques near Marseille to name but a few.
Southwest France rock climbing guidebooks. The southwest of France is dominated by the Pyrenees, where there are many multi-pitch sport climbing areas plus the excellent bouldering at Targasonne. The Languedoc-Roussillon region stretches from the Pyrenees to the west of Avignon including the cities of Mines, Montpellier and Perpignan. There are many different rock climbing and sport climbing places in this area including the famous Gorge du Tarn.
