The Dolomites are a challenging and beautiful range of steep limestone peaks situated in northern Italy, close to the Austrian/Italian border. There are many of the peaks that are over 3000m+ high, giving long and demanding big wall routes. The range and style of rock climbing routes that can be experienced in the Dolomites is unique and varies from bolted sport routes (single and multi-pitch), long multi-pitch traditional routes up to 1,000m long and Via Ferratas. This guidebook combines the best sport, traditional and Via Ferrata routes across a wide range of grades to offer everything you need for a climbing trip regardless of your ability.
12 main climbing areas are detailed which are Catinaccio, Val di Fassa, Marmolada, Sella Group, Val Gardena, Fanis Group, Lagazuoi Group, Tofana Group, Cinque Torri, Cortina Basin, Cadini di Misurina, and Tre Cime. In total there are 970 routes of which 152 are traditional routes, 781 are sport routes, and 37 are Via Ferrata. Each area has a detailed location map and all the routes are shown on colour photo topos.
