Description

This guidebook describes 77 excellent mountain biking routes between the mountains and the sea of southern and central Sardinia. It is in these areas of Sardinia where the island’s highest and most important groups of mountains are found. The majority of the routes are circular that are quickly reached from the main towns and cities.

The 77 MTB routes covered across Sardinia are broken down as follows:
• 19 MTB routes in the south west around Iglesias.
• 17 MTB routes in the south east near Cagliari
• 26 MTB routes on the eastern coast in the centre between Dorgali and Tortoli
• 12 MTB routes in the centre around Punta La Marmora
• 3 MTB routes in the near Sassari

Each guidebook comes with a unique code that can be used to download the maps (GPS tracks) and descriptions of all the routes.

The guidebook includes a great variety of landscapes, experiences and difficulties. This ranges from relaxed climbs on smooth dirt roads and easy fast descents, to a series of difficult and technical trails (both up and down) deep in the mountains. Also experience different types of trails from steep, rocky and rough rides along cart and mule tracks left by shepherds and charcoal burners to old mining tracks and abandoned railway lines.

For each route there is a brief description including a section on the technical difficulty. Symbols are used to show the percentage of the route on different surfaces, plus highest point, height gained, total distance. There is also information regarding which maps are available, where to stay, and what water sources are available along the route.

Published in June 2016 by Versante Sud, this guidebook is in English text throughout, and includes many inspiring action colour photographs.
