This DVD is a feature length film about the wild history of rock climbing in Yosemite, describing the amazing story of Yosemite’s rock climbing revolution during the last 50 years. Yosemite’s massive faces such as El Cap, with its 1,000m face, and Half Dome have drawn climbers and explorers for many years.
The film is split into 3 sections. The first part describes the “Golden Age” of the 50s and 60s when many classic routes were first established. The second part describes “The Stonemasters” age of the 70s, when many of the classic routes were freed. The third part describes the “Stone Monkeys” of the modern age with their cutting edge ascents.
This DVD tells the incredible story of the larger-than-life climbers with their epic climbing rivalries, ground-breaking first ascents and their long battles with National Park authorities. The film captures the bohemian lifestyle many of the pioneering climbers had, and how this has been passed down to each generation.
Starring Yosemite legends Dean Potter, Alex Honnold, Lynn Hill, "Chongo" Chuck, John Bachar, Jim Bridwell, Warren Harding, Yvon Chouinard, and Royal Robbins, this film has been described by Red Bull Magazine as "The best climbing film ever made".
