The Northern California Bouldering Guidebook covers more than 1,700 boulder problems from the best 50 areas in Northern California. The guidebook covers the San Francisco Bay Area and wine area, Lake Tahoe, Sonora and Bear Valley, Bald Rock and Mount Lassen, and the North Coast. With all the classic problems covered, there are also a number of new cutting-edge, ridiculously hard test-pieces.
The Northern Californian scenery is as varied as the boulder problems, beaches, mountains, river beds and High Sierra Peaks along with the fantastic weather make this an ideal playground. You will find nearly every rock type: granite, limestone, sandstone, schist, chert, volcanic tuff, greenstone and pure California jade.
At the start of each area there is a brief description, when to climb, driving directions, a location map and GPS co-ordinates for the parking areas. All the problems are shown on colour photo-topos and boulder maps. The guidebook also has very good local knowledge, giving good information for camping, where to stay and local amenities.
The guidebook is published by Supertopo in June 2009 and is in English text throughout.
