The Envers des Aiguilles guidebook describes the long multi-pitch Alpine routes on the huge granite towers and spikes around the Requin hut, Envers des Aiguilles hut and the banks of the Mer de Glace. All the routes are accessible from these huts or from the Montenvers Railway or the Aiguille du Midi telepherique.
The guidebook covers the Requin, Envers de Blaitere, Nantillons - Envers Hut, Trelaporte, and the banks of the Mer de Glace area. There are around 250 routes covered ranging from F5+ to F8a, and they are typically from a few hundred metres to around 1,000m long.
The introduction to the guidebook gives a good description of the style and ethics of the climbing, including how to access the 2 main huts of the area. At the start of each area there is a good overall map showing approaches to the routes along with a description. Each route is illustrated on colour topo, along with the French Alpine grade, minimum technical grade, length, the type of protection to be found, and what gear is required.
