This guidebook covers the alpine multi-pitch rock climbing in the Austrian Alps to the west of Salzburg, and to the north of Innsbruck. Many of Austria’s best known climbing areas are covered, including The Ratikon, Silvretta, Karwendal and Kaisergebirge that offer some fantastic climbing at a reasonable grade. All the routes described are in the UIAA alpine grade range of 3 to 7 (UK, VDiff to E2; or French, 3 to 6b).
In total 12 main areas are covered and there are as follows: Ratikon, Silvretta, Verwall, Lechquellengebirge, Lechtaler Alpen, Allgauer Alpen, Tannheimer Berge, Wetterstein, Mieminger, Karwendel, Rofan, and Bayerische Voralpen.
At the start of each crag there is a detailed overview map, along with descriptions for the approach and descent. All the routes are shown on very detailed hand-drawn colour topos or colour photo-topos.
