Accommodation for rock climbers in the Durance Valley, Hautes Alps, France

There is a wide range of accommodation available in the Durance Valley for rock climbers (in the Hautes Alps or otherwise known as the southern Alps). There are several campsites, Gites (self-catering holiday cottages), expensive hotels, budget hotels and self catering apartments. There are a couple of good places for rock climbers to base themselves, which are Ailefroide and Vallouise.

Camping

There are many campsites in the Durance Valley, though the most popular with rock climbers is the campsite at Ailefroide, which has recently been extended to hold up to 500 places.
